Chelsea Register Office wedding photographer opportunities
Compared to other London Register Offices such as Westminster, Camden and Islington, the ceremony rooms at Chelsea; The Brydon Room, The Rossetti Room and The Harrington Room are geared towards the smaller size of wedding.
The Brydon Room is situated on the first floor of Chelsea Old Town Hall, just up the steps and on the left after the main entrance. It's the largest wedding ceremony room and is long and thin in layout with a capacity of up to 38 seated guests with the Bride and Groom standing during the ceremony in front of the main window which backs onto the King's Road. Light streams in from the windows on the left hand side so on a bright day you can still capture guests on the right hand wall side of the room. Though on a dark days bounced fill in flash can be a safer option for sharper wedding photographs.
The second largest and most popular room is The Rossetti Room, which is to the right as you enter the Town Hall. This rather cosy and intimate space can hold up to 12 seated guests and does have some natural light from a window placed middle of the room.
Finally there is The Harrington Room, which is a very intimate space with room for up to 8 guests and no natural light.
Before the wedding ceremony guests tend to gather outside on the Kings Road or on the steps dependant on whether another wedding is finishing as they will usually troop out onto the steps for their wedding pictures. When the weather doesn't permit there is a large waiting room at the end of the corridor. Both provide good opportunities for some informal reportage shots of families and guests mingling before the service.
After the marriage ceremony it's straight outside for the traditional confetti wedding photo on those famous steps and you can also do the wedding photos here if it's not too crowded. In the height of the wedding season Chelsea Register Office is a very busy place to be, with wedding following wedding in fast succession. On a number of occasions we have taken the wedding party to the nearby grounds of St Luke's Gardens which is a very pleasant and tranquil space by the graceful looking St Luke's Church. In addition the gardens here along with the intimate and colourful little residential roads that lead off from the King's Road provide a wonderful area for some romantic wedding pictures for the newlywed couple.
Whilst the Chelsea Old Town Hall function Room is a wonderful option for the wedding reception we usually join the wedding party on a classic double decker bus or follow them onto one of London's many famous hotels and restaurants or local pubs for the rest of the days celebrations.
